Using oxygen as the sole oxidant for two steps, we developed a new method to synthesize beta-aryl alpha,beta-enones by fine-tuning the Pd(ii)-catalyzed oxidation of allyl alcohol to subsequent arylation with arylboronic acids, arylboronic ester and aryltrifluoroborate salt.
