After six hours at room temperature water (50 mL) was added and extracted twice with dichloromethane (20 mL). The combined organic extracts were washed with brine, dried (sodium sulfate) and concentrated in vacuo to yield (S)-4- (tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)butan-2-ol (0.654 g).
