The catalytic properties and nature of the nanoparticles forming in the system based on Pd(dba)2 and white phosphorus are reported. A schematic mechanism is suggested for the formation of nanosized palladium-based hydrogenation catalysts. The mechanism includes the formation of palladium nanoclusters via the interaction of Pd(dba)2 with the solvent (N,N-dimethylformamide) and substrate and the formation of palladium phosphide nanoparticles. The inhibiting effect exerted by elemental phosphorus on the catalytic process is due to the conversion of part of the Pd(0) into palladium phosphides, which are inactive in hydrogenation under mild conditions, and the formation of mainly segregated palladium nanoclusters and palladium phosphide nanoparticles. By investigating the interaction between Pd(dba)2 and white phosphorus in benzene, it has been established that the formation of palladium phosphides under mild conditions consists of the following consecutive steps: Pd(0) ? PdP2 ? Pd5P2 ? Pd3P. It is explained why white phosphorus can produce diametrically opposite effects of on the catalytic properties of nanosized palladium-based hydrogenation catalysts, depending on the nature of the palladium precursor.

We report here a convenient method to construct polysubstituted azetidines and 2,4-dioxo-1,3-diazabicyclo[3.2.0] compounds with high stereoselectivities in a one-pot reaction mediated by I2. The tetramethylguanidine (TMG)/I2-mediated formal [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of alpha-amidomalonate 1 with enones 2 affords functionalized azetidine derivatives 4 in moderate to good yields with high diastereoselectivity. When the alpha-ureidomalonate 5 is used instead of 1, 2,4-dioxo-1,3-diazabicyclo[3. 2.0]heptanes 8 and 2,4-dioxo-1,3-diazabicyclo[3.2.0]heptenes 9 can be prepared selectively through the control of solvent and temperature. 2,4-Dioxo-1,3- diazabicyclo[3.2.0]heptanes 8 can further undergo ring-opening reactions with different nucleophilic reagents to afford the corresponding polyfunctionalized azetidine derivatives 13-16 with high steroselectivities.

Thiophenophan-1-enes with chiral polyether bridges were prepared and their diastereospecific photochromic reactions were studied. The coupling reaction of substituted dithienylethenes and various chiral synthons afforded thiophenophan-1-enes, namely, bridged dithienylethenes, as single enantiomers without optical resolution, thus indicating that these reactions occurred diastereoselectively. Upon UV irradiation, each optically active thiophenophan-1-ene isomerized to the corresponding enantiomer of the closed form and returned to the initial enantiomer of the open form upon visible irradiation. Because thiophenophan-1-enes never isomerized to other diastereomers even at a high temperature, they underwent diastereospecific photochromic reactions. Large changes were observed in the measurement of the optical rotations of the solutions of thiophenophan-1-enes at 588 nm according to their photochromic reactions. As there was no absorption at this wavelength for both isomers of each thiophenophan-1-enes, the nondestructive readout of the photochromic reaction could be carried out by using these chiral thiophenophan-1-enes. Photo finish: Photochromic reactions of thiophenophan-1-enes with chiral polyether bridges occurred completely in a diastereospecific manner, even at high temperatures. Three commercial yeasts strains, namely, Saccharomyces cerevisiae SY, DV10, and Drop Acid Yeast, were used for Dangshan pear wine fermentation. Monitoring main physical and chemical indexes and scoring comprehensive sensory characteristics to find a suitable yeast to produce Dangshan pear wine. The fermentation cycle of SY was short (15 days), and the SY-fermented wine had a suitable sugar-acid ratio, with a residual sugar content of 3.13 ± 0.05 g/L, total acid content of 3.40 ± 0.11 g/L, and ethanol content of 14.1 ± 0.27% (v/v). Additionally, 42 flavor compounds were detected in fermented Dangshan pear wine, and the total amount of flavor compounds was highest in the SY wine (2,584.72 mug/L). Combined with the comprehensive sensory evaluation scores, these results suggest that Saccharomyces cerevisiae SY was the most suitable strain to produce Dangshan pear wine. Practical applications: In this study, we compared the physical and chemical indicators of pear wine brewed by different Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the process of fermentation and the final quality of pear wine products. It was concluded that the pear wine produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae SY had good quality. The study found a strain suitable for the fermentation of pear wine and provided a theoretical basis for the industrial production of pear wine. Next, we can try to use Saccharomyces cerevisiae SY for large-scale production of pear wine and try to sell it on the market.
